Multiple Temporalities is a series of compositions realized only as multi-track recordings assisted by constant use of a metronome (as opposed to performance music).

Each is a sort of experiment designed to draw attention to how different paces can co-exist and relate.

To ask 'What is rhythm?' leads us further to ask 'What is time?'

Metre, tempo, rate, frequency, pace, speed, temporality: all of these describe the flow of time.

We speak of certain desirable rhythmic tension such as 'groove' or 'funk.' The rhythmic tension on Multiple Temporality Recordings (MTR) are -more often than not- not about syncopations but rather a constantly changing and circulating disjunctive arrangement of eight voices collapsing into and away from each other.

I choose eight voices because this is the total number of tracks that my current technology is capable of (Tascam DP-03).

The voices vary from guitar, percussion, voice, bass and electronics. Although the focus is that of rhythmic relationships often there are also pitch prescriptions.

The first track is called 'Chronic Chromatic' because it uses the first 8 notes of the E chromatic scale. The second is called 'E Lydian' because it the notes from that scale.
