about

A high cultivation of the lowest fidelity or such nonsense could be claimed here but let's not fake or brag, our feelings are fine and good, we are 'okay,' at least in a way - God only knows how many times we've announced this ourselves actually in order to attempt to cover up actually how we are NOT okay, but this is just more nonsense, a different flavor maybe. The name for that 3 flavor ice cream escapes me at the moment- chocolate, strawberry and vanilla all in one! Napoleon or something because when he'd invaded the lower unworldly lands they were so backwards and behind the times that they ate all ice cream flavors separately. Thank greatness that good- or at least okay- conquers such as brave Neapolitan were around to show undesirable people... err, or rather people that are just too darn desirable how to combine colored frozen sweet fats together. A real colonial achievement, yes sir, yes yes!
But seriously, this is wonderful music. 'High fidelity' strives and often achieves a separation of the elements of the recording, this is often desirable, this chiseling, or chiseled effect. What it fails to realize is a quality of meshing the elements of the sound so that they come together as oppose to coming apart like the qualities of a soup or stew differ- even contrast- with other gourmet orders. The IMI recording projects provides a good example of this.
The two General Forgetfulness tracks were recorded approximately a year before recording 'vegetarian cadences' which was done by Jesse Gander at the Hive Studio. The idea- which is common- was that by exercising much more care (such as close mic-ing the instruments, relocating to a professional studio and hiring a engineer) we would achieve a higher quality of representation. My feeling now however is the opposite. Whatever is sayable or unsayable about this kind/type/style of music/noise/sound does not conform to the so-called 'improvements' achieved with care and carefulness known as 'production.' The aesthetic of coming together energy has nothing to do with being ushered, groomed or controlled, in fact these modes of attending to something tend to destroy the natural beauty in things like General Forgetfulness A and B.
A comparison that comes to mind now is a recent case of fatal savagery preformed with clinical care that got attention in Canadian society. It is the case of Ashley Smith, a young woman tortured and ultimately assisted in suicide by the state. It is very troubling that common prudence in the reaction to this tragedy could be reduced to something like 'the hospital/prison attendants need/require more training.' I fear the opposite maybe true. Footage from this case show militarized orderlies circling a young woman strapped to a chair with her mouth gaffe taped. Too much training, too much 'care,' a general excess that leads to a systematic type of psychosis illustrated by the bare life of her 'health care/correctional' attendants. The question that really must be asked and answered is: what kinds or types of observation were these 'professionals' having/making during these many- too many to be considered civilized- documented incidents? What fed their impatience which led them collectively into such brutality? Not enough training? Improper facilities? Wages/salaries too low? Not enough benefits? Too much beer, porn, commercial media and hyper violent video games?
